Advanced Dispensing

Created for the more experienced optical dispenser who may have ‘forgotten more than some will ever know’, or the optical assistant who has learnt on the job and has not undergone any formal optical training. This one day course is also the perfect extension for those who have completed the Intermediate Dispensing course. A fun, lighthearted and relevant approach to today`s optics, this one day is a must.

Spectrum of power meridians (SS19)

Using the optical cross to interpret power, beat basic lens thickness to the punch.

 

Spectrum of prism (SS20)

What is prism and why is it on a prescription, prism base direction, splitting prism, induced, wanted and unwanted prism. Prismatic effect, compounding, cancelling, prism thinning and yoked prism.

 

Spectrum of lens thickness (SS21)

Thickness, under the influence; Rx interpretation, axis orientation, cylinder power, decentration, curvature, lens form, lens shape, lens choice, frame shape, frame size all influence lens thickness.

 

Spectrum of new age lenses (SS22)

Freeform, degressives, low add boost, occupational, optimised, digital SV lenses, call them what you will and how they work. Fitting heights, power shifts and corridor lengths decoded.

 

Spectrum of lens design (SS23)

Lens development, aberrations, Abbe value, base curves, aspheric lenses, atoric lenses and lenticulars, all the things to consider when recommending and troubleshooting lenses.

 

Spectrum of as worn measurements (SS24)

The importance of position of wear measurements for dispensing new age lenses and the manual methods needed to position lenses to the maximum benefit of wearers. Back vertex distance (BVD), pantoscopic tilt and facial wrap.

Specialty training options (By negotiation – in house only)

Spectrum of focimetry – Final checking

Verification of correct order details, frame, tints, Rx, lens material, lens type, PDs, heights and special instructions. (manual focimeter required)
