Consultant and training facilitator Leigh Robinson of Spectrum Optical has recognised a gap in the market for appropriate flexible staff training. Leigh has years of ophthalmic and small business experience and has a vision and passion for the industry to guide ophthalmic practice owners in identifying opportunities in their business model and to discover avenues for improvement in image, sales and profit through effective staff training.
Well credentialed, Leigh has been a teacher of Certificate IV in Optical Dispensing at RMIT University since 2008 and is also a casual academic in Optical Dispensing and Retail Optics at Deakin University, Geelong. He has a Diploma in VET Practice and holds Cert IV in Optical Dispensing and Cert IV in Training and Assessment and Cert IV in Optical Dispensing.
As well as having operated his own dispensing practice for eleven years, he has operated a lens manufacturing laboratory.
Currently president of Australian Dispensing Opticians Association (Vic) (ADOA), Leigh is also a member of the International Opticians Association (IOA).
Leigh’s forte is ophthalmic staff training – but perhaps his finest quality? His football team is Collingwood.
“Knowledgeable staff trained beyond their job role, empowers staff to confidently talk to patients about common eye problems, vision and optical appliances, enhancing the patient experience and complimenting the optometrist by establishing themselves as valuable practice members.”
